After a traumatic accident during his residence, the young medical student James Hayman (Namir Smallwood) moves to a rural hospital for a new start. Observing that James is struggling and having difficulty connecting with patients, dr. Harrison (veteran stadium and screen actor Michael Potts) suggests that he follows a lesson focused on the way of bed and facilitating deeper relationships with patients. James’ demons begin to reach him when he is consumed by the case of a young patient for asthma (Sidney Flanigan, never rarely always always) with mysterious symptoms. His grip on reality begins to slide while his disturbing nightmares, speculations fed by anxiety and physical injuries collide with the harsh realities of the world of medicine. Director Alex Thompson assembles a strong set of veterans actors in his follow-up to Saint Frances-and Ghostlight-In precursor this vision of humanist and unconventional gender.
